MIDDLEBURY – Das Dutchman Essenhaus announces the third annual Essenhaus Quilt Show and Sale which celebrates quilts and those who create them. The 3-day event will be held August 12th through August 14th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm each day.
The event will be held at the Essenhaus Inn & Conference Center on the main campus where the restaurant and Essenhaus Village Shops are located. The public is invited to attend and admission will be $3.00 per person.
Beautiful and unique quilts will be on display and cash awards will be presented for best hand-quilted, best machine stitched, best vintage (completed before 1959), and best use of theme – Garden Party. Awards will also be presented to the top 3 quilts selected as “people’s choice” in a special category. Individuals may choose to display quilts that they have crafted and they may do so at a cost of $5.00 per quilt. Display forms are available at the Essenhaus corporate office weekdays until 4:00 pm or also on-line at this link: QuiltShow_Forms.pdf. Vendors offering fabrics, notions, patterns, books and more will be on-site throughout the event along with live quilting demonstrations, free seminars and a ‘Tour of Quilts’.
The Essenhaus Quilt Show runs in conjunction with the Middlebury Summer Festival, a town-wide celebration of summer with festivities, live entertainment, and the largest small town parade in Northern Indiana. The quilt show also runs during the annual Quilt Gardens Tour(sm), a community-wide event initiated by the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau that unites quilters and gardeners alike. Das Dutchman Essenhaus is an official stop on the Quilt Gardens Tour(sm); offering a modified ‘Weathervane’ quilt garden and a ‘Double Wedding Ring’ quilt mural.
