Northern Indiana Biblical Association presents, "Herodible Comedy"!
Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time.
Four different performance times will be offered over four days.
THE SNYDER FAMILY BAND
When Bud and Laine Snyder enrolled their young children in music lessons, they didn't expect to find them on stage other than occasionally at a recital. Now, music is a huge part of life for this North Carolina family as Zeb (17) and Samantha (13) have excelled in their individual instruments and the art of entertaining. As they began performing more as a duet, their music interest turned toward Bluegrass. While Samantha plays fiddle and Zeb the guitar, there seemed to be something missing. So, Bud was surprised with an upright bass on his birthday and it was only a matter of time before he joined them on stage.
The Snyder's show includes instrumentals as well as vocal numbers by the children, with Mom (Laine), joining in to add three-part harmony. Now the family enjoys evenings "circled around" the living room working on upcoming performances and simply making music together. They all look forward to the time when little brother, Owen (7), makes his musical debut to the Snyder Family Band. STEEL MAGNOLIAS
August 9, 2013 • 7-9 pm
August 10, 2013 • 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm
As the title suggests, the lead female characters in this moving dramatic performance can be as delicate as magnolias but can also turn on a dime and be as tough as steel.
The action of the play takes place solely on one set; Truvy's Beauty Salon, which is part of her home. There are six female characters who appear on stage and all other characters who appear in the popular film version (starring Dolly Parton, Sally Field & Julia Roberts) are referred to in the play dialogue.
Join us to enjoy this memorable performance that is based on a fictional tight-knit southern community. You'll be introduced to Annelle, a recent beauty school graduate who is hired by Truvy to work in her salon. M'Lynn, matriarch of the group, is helping her daughter, Shelby, prepare for her upcoming wedding. They'll be joined in the salon by Weeza, a grouchy two-time widow and Clairee, a cheerful widow who enjoys taking cracks at Weeza whenever possible. Watch, laugh, listen and enjoy as these women come together to prepare for Shelby's wedding day and as time passes, births and deaths that impact each of their lives.
